The Competition

• Unlike Hornbeam, larger firms have an inherent problem with bureaucracy leading to excessive cost, impersonal treatment of clients and difficulty in contacting partners and specific staff.
• Unlike Hornbeam, unqualified accountants are not regulated and may not have adequate technical competence. They are unlikely to attend courses to keep up to date and as a result have only limited knowledge of UK taxation, thus may attract more tax investigations. They are unlikely to have professional indemnity insurance, and may not have cover during holidays or illness.
